Light can be seen at the end of the tunnel for Monmouth Community Under 5s, as they have been offered a site on which they could place a demountable building.

After spotting the article in last week's Beacon, a piece of land at Singleton Court Business Ground has been offered to the group, rent free, by owner Nick Wheelan and his son-in-law Rob Laurie.

The site, which will extend as far forward as the first row of car parking spaces, will have a concrete foundation added to make the site more sturdy and the electricity supply will be run across from the main office block on the site.

They will also make sure that the building will be set back far enough onto the grassed area to include a sufficient outdoor play area – something that will enhance the group's prospects as it operates as a Welsh Assembly Government 'Foundation Phase' playgroup, which is very keen on outside play.

Rob said: "We are more than happy to help.

"We do have future plans for the site, but as these will not be happening for a few years the playgroup will be able to have it for the forseeable future."

Sue said: "It's brilliant news and a very kind offer.

"We would like to thank all those who have been involved so far including Nick and Rob, Chris McGowan and Crac Downes at wyeMedia for printing, Jason Cooper for ICT, Sam Bradbury for fencing, Samuel Weston for hosting and managing the website, Rockfield Property Services and Capitol Cabins."

Obviously, the group still have a way to go, as planning permission for the site needs to be obtained from the council and funding needs to be raised to purchase the demountable building.
