Forty Monmouth volunteers took to the streets as part of Monmouth Litter Group’s largest ever project.

The map used to chart the progress was completely filled up and the celebratory words ’we did it’ written across. All the litter collected filled and impressive 60 bags. The group estimated that this makes Monmouth unique in Wales, in litter picking every residential road in our town in the same week.

Organiser Jim Handley said: "Our challenge is now for every school, organisation and local community in the town to come together actively under our love Monmouth, hate litter slogan."

As part of the litter group’s contribution to Monmouth’s week long climate festival, an eight foot tall mascot has been put up outside of Cornwall house built from items retrieved on previous litter picks. Monty sports some of the more unusual items as fashion accessories including sun glasses, a pocket calculator, swimming goggles and even a doll’s head.
