A group of four Monmouth boys are climbing the ladder of musical success with their band, Thousand Fingers.

The boys, who are all from Monmouth and attended Monmouth Comprehensive School, have been selected to play at Jar Music Live Plug'd In Showcase in Birmingham's O2 Academy on 26th May.

The band was contacted by the show's organisers and invited to play at the event, which will host undiscovered talent from across the country.

"We thought it was a scam at first, it was too good to be true" said band member George Morgan.

"I had to call the O2 and ask if they had this event booked in to make sure it was real" he said.

The concert is an opportunity for the band to be seen by organisations such as NME magazine and RCA Records– the label that has signed big names such as Chris Brown, Adam Lambert and Usher.

Thousand Fingers started life in February 2011 as a three piece instrumental band– however as things struggled to take off, frontman Charlie Whaley was brought in to provide vocals and the team have been going from strength to strength ever since.

Aged between 18 and 20, Charlie Whaley, Joe Hughs, George Morgan and Tobias Char- Fletcher describe their music as "ambient rock" and compare themselves to U2 and Coldplay.

The group have just been signed by DCF Records after a gig in the Gwdihw in Cardiff, and hope to get their first album off the ground later this year. They are still keen to gain support from the bigger labels too.

"If RCA remain interested we will probably sign with them, but we would probably still work with DCF as they are such brilliant guys. And keeping old friends is always nice" said George.

Tickets can be bought in advance for £6 so if you would like to go along to support the boys, call 07825875744 or 07917677746.
