SIR,
I am appalled by the state of the flower planters in Monmouth. This is such a lovely town, and should be advertised as a market town in the heart of the Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. However, for visitors to arrive and see the state of the flower planters is hardly a welcoming sight, most especially the ones sited at the bottom of Dixton Road and the Monmouth Garage.
I fully appreciate that we have suffered a very hard winter; however, surely something could have been done to regenerate the planters. As this is the Rolls centenary year, we may expect more visitors, and to see the town looking splendid may encourage them to return on future occasions – which would, of course, be of great benefit to Monmouth and its traders.
