Monmouth RFC Warriors (Under-14s) played away against Caldicot on Sunday, for what was the Warriors' first game of the year, and the first since 13th December.

In the initial stages, the lay-off didn't show, with the Warriors playing some inspired rugby. Caldicot scored a penalty in Monmouth's 22, and showed their intent to win and seek revenge for the Warriors' win at Caldicot earlier in the season, by kicking for the posts – but the kick was missed.

The Warriors continued to run the ball in heavy conditions, and a brilliant run by Max Senior down the touchline resulted in a penalty for Monmouth. A quick tap was taken by the swift Dan Edwards, and the ball was fed to Will Korb, who crashed over for the opening try.

Two consecutive penalties to Caldicot saw them progress up the pitch, and from a line-out, Caldicot scored a try to level things up. Some inventive play from Sam Rugg and Max Davies – taking a quick line-out – caught Caldicot unprepared, and Max Davies scored Monmouth's second try.
