SIR,

The Wye Valley Art Society will be attempting to improve on its success of last year when 800 visitors attended the art society's first exhibition in the Shire Hall following the extensive renovation of the building's fabric.

Perhaps the increasing interest shown by the people of Monmouth and outside visitors is a reflection that the society has been in existence for 105 years, but also that there is an increased interest generally in all forms of art.

If the exciting and wide-ranging styles of art represented in last year's exhibition can be matched by the work on display this year, there will be plenty to interest both the dedicated viewer and those with a more general but curious interest in art.
