Armed police were seen making an arrest outside a Monmouth pub last Thursday (27th September).

The arrest followed reports of a black Mercedes driving erratically through the town that morning.

Gwent Police say the vehicle was involved in a road traffic collision in the Wye Bridge area at about 9.20am and, after being driven through the town, came to a stop outside the One Stop Shop on Monnow Street at about 9.45am.

Two men in the vehicle got out and went into the King's Head Public House.

A 41-year-old male from the Worcester area was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and dangerous driving, and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police would like anyone with information, specifically people who are known to have filmed the car on Monnow Street as it came to a stop, to get in touch with them and call them on 101.
