There was no rest for Monmouth Tri Club’s Paul Turner over the bank holiday, when he competed in the Westonbirt House Sprint Triathlon in Tetbury, Gloucestershire. Racing in the supervet 60 category, Paul completed a 400m pool swim, 22km bike ride and a 5km run, finishing in 1 hour, 51 minutes, 39 seconds.
Although Paul reports the pool swim quickly got jammed with queuing competitors, the flat bike route offered a chance to make up time, as it whizzed through quiet Cotswold villages and past the royal residence of Highgrove. The traffic-free 5km run was routed through the estate’s 210 acre grounds, finishing in front of the impressive Westonbirt House.
