Dewi Lane could not match his try scoring exploits of last week but at least he was the first to score away against Pontllanffraith in another try scoring bonanza, six in all, to gain another bonus win, 41 points to nil.

After taking a while to settle down, Monmouth began to heap pressure upon the home team and after seven phases or so of play had stretched their defence beyond its capability, the ball went left along the line for centre Lane to be the first to cross the line but not near enough on this occasion for Ricketts to add the conversion.

Monmouth's heads were already up which perhaps explains a fallow period for scoring as everyone tried to move the ball out of contact, often erring in their haste.

Fly-half Rhys Ricketts, who is beginning to revel in the role and its responsibilities, made amends for the earlier miss by adding a penalty, soon to be followed by a fine line kick to gain touch and relief some 80 yards upfield.
