SIR,

I was privileged to have been present at the Rotary Youth Speak competition last week.

The pupils of Monmouth schools clearly have among them some very talented young people. Their topical presentations were well researched, prepared and presented.

I was particularly impressed by the presentations from Monmouth Comprehensive School - their enthusiasm, meticulous planning and seamless productions were quite awe-inspiring. Not only did they manage to strongly present their points of view in a time honoured tradition of political commentator but also encompassed elements of the political satirist, which really captivated the audience.

The whole evening proved to be a truly uplifting experience - the pupils, parents and particularly the talented and dedicated teaching staff should be applauded.
