In a written response, Gareth Davies the interim production manager states that extensive building repairs are required at Monmouth Ambulance Station and estates managers have concluded these would not be cost effective.
However agreement to share the use of the next door fire station has been agreed.
David Davies said: "I was disturbed to hear rumours that the Welsh Ambulance Service had plans to close the Monmouth Ambulance Station.
"I live with my family in the town and like many Monmouth residents feared this would adversely affect the level of service we receive.
"Needless to say I was pleased to receive assurances to the contrary.
"I'm told the ambulance service has arranged to share accommodation at the next door fire station.
"This means the Rapid Response Vehicle will be permanently based in the town, while the ambulance will be based in Abergavenny and moved down to Monmouth at the start of each shift.
"In the longer term discussions are ongoing with Gwent Police and others about re-developing Monmouth Ambulance Station site for multi agency use.
"I will continue to monitor this issue and keep the public informed when there are future developments."
