SIR,

As a concerned resident of Overmonnow, who is partially disabled and living with a disabled partner, I would like to know how target times can be reached by the ambulance service at night if there is no ambulance on duty in Monmouth or the ambulance is being used to cover other areas.

Who is responsible for the allocations of the ambulance service in Monmouthshire and why isn't this person, or persons, allocating crews to the Monmouth area?

Are we being prejudiced against because we are living in a small town?

How is it that crews from other areas such as Herefordshire and Worcestershire are having to cover an area with its own station by picking up patients to transport to Nevill Hall Hospital?

I think this is totally unacceptable.

I agree whole heartedly with letters firstly from Mr John Fletcher a fortnight ago, and secondly in part with the staff of Monmouth Ambulance Station.

I also think that with the proposed planning of another 400 additional houses for the town, the ambulance service is potentially putting the lives of Monmouth residents at risk.

A Jones
