SIR,

The public is now well aware of the ongoing ambulance failings in Monmouth.

Interestingly, in a recent leaflet Nick Ramsay AM says that he "raised this matter on the floor of the Senedd on 7th February 2012 with Labour's Jane Hutt, the Business Minister", a year since I brought the subject to his attention in February 2011.

Why wait until 7th February to raise this issue and why raise it with the Business Minister rather than the Health Minister?

Perhaps this was because it was the day I handed in a petition of 450 signatories to the petitions committee? I believe the people of Monmouth deserve to know what he has done since becoming our AM on this issue.

In January of this year, I hosted a public meeting in order to address ambulance concerns with people from the local community.

Unfortunately Mr Ramsay was absent. This is a shame because the meeting delivered some improvements by the community and ambulance trust listening to each other and working together.

In February, I attended a meeting of Monmouth Town Council in order to find a way to work with the Ambulance Trust and the town council in an attempt to monitor the situation and develop a resolution.

Mr Ramsay did not attend despite being invited. There is now a working group set up to monitor the situation.

I suggest he attends more meetings on this subject.
