PLANS for 23 new almshouses in Monmouth have been unveiled and are now before the planning committee of Monmouth Town Council.
Bristol Charities and affordable housing specialist Lovell describe the almshouses as 'homes for life accommodation for older people in need'.
The development would include 10 new mews houses for sale.
The proposed redevelopment is planned to create 23 self-contained one and two-bedroom flats.
The new almshouses will replace the existing 1960s-built William Jones almshouse in the Burgage.
An almshouse was originally founded in Monmouth in 1615 by merchant William Jones. The current building was built in 1961.
An information event is being held on Tuesday 9th November, from 3.30pm to 6.30pm at Monmouth Library.
