SATURDAY 21st July is the date for the annual village fair and summer barbecue at Mitchel Troy Village Hall, all starting at 12pm.
As well as the usual popular items including coconut shies, pot luck, ladder game, face painting and raffle, there will be some new games for family and friends to enjoy and compete in.
The special childrens’ craft competition will be to make a mask in advance out of recycled materials and bring it along to the fayre at opening time. There are three prizes: under 5s, 5 to 7 and 8 to 12 years. The same age ranges apply to the decorated six homemade biscuit competition. Adults can enter six decorated homemade cupcakes.
Always an important feature of Mitchel Troy hall events is the refreshments.
The barbecue will serve hot dogs and burgers with the usual trimmings and inside the hall, homemade cakes with teas or coffee will be available. The licensed bar will be open throughout the event.
An exciting new feature will be the novice dog agility demonstration to be held by permission of Helen Atton of Fido Behaviour on the field adjacent to Wonastow Mill. Helen holds dog agility classes there on Saturdays and she has kindly agreed to let them see how her pupils – canine and human – are coming along. After the demonstration, you can have a go with your own dog!
