The Herefordshire Sports Council's Junior Male Sports Personality of the Year award for 2007 has gone to eight year-old Alex Parker of Ross. Alex is a pupil at Bridstow Primary School and he is a showing that he has a huge talent for tennis and is now the No 1 under 10 player in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Lawn Tennis Association. Competing in the Lawn Tennis Association's national events, for the under 10s and under 9s, he has won five out of six matches. He is also among only eight players from England to train with the LTA at Roehampton. Alex receives funding from the LTA and his tennis racquets are sponsored by Dunlop. He is based at Whitecross Tennis Club in Hereford where his coach is Andrew Griffiths and he is also trained by and LTA coach at the Edgbaston Tennis Club in Birmingham.
