SIR,
I would like to inform the residents of Monmouth, through your letters page, about the ongoing problem with traffic parking on the cul de sac at the end of Goldwire Lane, from the junction with Somerset Road and Clawdd Du.
It has been brought to my attention that the lane, which has access for disabled bungalows and other residential access, is being used as a car park by staff and customers of local shops and by people going into town, therefore the access to the bungalows and residents driveways is being restricted.
Also, should an emergency vehicle require access this will cause a problem.
On one occasion an ambulance on an emergency call to one of the bungalows had to park with the rear of the vehicle protruding into Somerset Road which could have caused an accident.
I believe, in my opinion, that it is about time this problem was addressed and I think that the solution would be is for double yellow lines to be implemented and also for large fines to be introduced for those flouting the laws.
