The A466 is to be closed for approximately 970m between Lower Redbrook and Bigsweir Bridge from 24th September to 9th November.
A rock embankment above the road is fractured and sections are falling onto the road below. Currently there are temporary traffic lights in place. According to Amey, the road needs to be closed so the rock can be scaled back, pinned and netted and road opened to two lane running again.
Due to large plant machinery and heavy pieces of rock in the road, there will be no access for emergency vehicles or pedestrians during the road closure.
