SIR, Please may I, through your letters page, say a big thank you to my son and to all the Powell family, the Weirs, Bezani's and friends – scattered over Wales, England, France, Italy and Hong Kong. Also to neighbours, the Royal Engineers Association in Monmouth, Dan and family and Ace Taxis for the wonderful cards, flowers and other gifts I received for my 80th birthday and Christmas.
