SIR,
We would like to write a few words about David Jones, who died on 20th March.
He was a modest, gentle man who had a great sense of humour and sensitivity. He had a great compassion for disabled people.
As a member of Monmouth Round Table, he was elected as Community Officer and started visiting Steven Brewin, who resided in a local home. Until his illness he was still visiting him, 40 years later.
My husband, Brian, had a stroke 12 years ago and David undertook to walk our brown labrador, Barney, every day with his own dogs, Henry and Megan.
Added to that he started to teach Brian to paint with his left hand, and his weekly visits were a total joy.
In fact, Brian improved so much he got a first at Monmouth Show.
David will be sorely missed but greatly remembered.
Betty & Brian Dobson
(Monmouth)
