A book has been launched which gives a snapshot of life in Monmouth.
'A Day in the Life of Monmouth' is the brain-child of town councillor Chris Munslow and features around 100 photographs of daily life in the town.
"About two years ago I attended a family funeral where I met a couple from Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds, who as it happens are very involved in their community and town museum," said Chris.
"Alhough at a funeral, they were quite upbeat as they had recently produced a book for their town called 'Chipping Norton on a Summers Day', in an attempt to help record life in their town.
"This was, I understand, the second edition, the first being produced some 20 years earlier.
"This got me thinking that we could do a similar thing here in Monmouth, so over the summer months and with the commited support of Monmouth Town Council, the Monmouth Civic Society and Monmouth Museum, teams of photographers recorded a sample of life in Monmouth.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the town businesses and the people of Monmouth for their enthusiastic support for this project," he added.
Some 500 photos were put onto CDs along with a brief description of each picture and have been archived in Monmouth Museum for future generations to see.
The book, which is packed full of local landmarks and familiar faces, is on sale at the museum and in the Tourist Information Centre priced at £4.99.
