Roger Chilman and Andrew Sankey took the runners-up spot in the Securcom/ Haywood Civil Engineering/ Kumho shod Subaru S9 WRC after a ding-dong battle with Charlie Payne in his O8 Focus WRC on last Saturday's (9th July) Nicky Grist Quinton Stages.
Round 6 of the BTRDA and Welsh Clubman series saw 44 miles of fast and furious action in the forests of Crychan, Gwibedog Halfway and the open gravel roads of Route 60.
Chilman and Payne were equal fastest on the opening test. The Subaru driver then rocketed through the next five-mile Route 60 stage to take seven seconds out of Payne.
The Ripon dairy farmer then turned the tables on the slippery Halfway test, taking seven back,then a further five on the short Crychan stage to lead by five seconds going into service, with Pembridge's Andy Burton a further 15 down.
