Cadets from Ross & Monmouth may have been on school holidays for the last six or seven weeks but it has continued to be a very busy time for them.

During this time ten cadets completed their Duke of Edinburgh Award practice expeditions (five Bronze and five Silver) and will now complete their final expedition at the end of the month in the Cotswolds.

The unit has also competed in the District Rowing and Kayaking competitions with two cadets qualifying to represent the District at the Area competition.

More recently the unit entered a float in the Ross on Wye Carnival and came second. They have also been very active raising funds for the unit and assisted at the Monmouthshire Show and completed a street collection in Monmouth on Saturday 12th September, collecting a brilliant £388.42.

The unit is looking forward to a visit from the Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire and the Captain of the Sea Cadets in November.

The management committee is also busy and is in the process of raising some £300,000 to purchase a new building which will secure the future of the unit and allow it to expand.

The unit continues to need adult support from people who would like to learn new skills and pass these on to the young people of Ross and Monmouth.
