Sometime over-night between 7th June and 8th June, six work vans were targeted and a number of items were stolen from inside, including high value power tools.
In Caldicot, vans were broken into on Firs Road, Elan Way, Birbeck Road and Oakley Way. In Chepstow vans were targeted in Mathern Road and Channel View.
Officers would like to speak with two men seen in Clos Rheidol area of Caldicot, who were walking around the cul-de-sac, and in possession of a van which has been described as brown with ‘Diamond Drilling’ and ‘Metal Write Cutting’ written on the vehicle. Officers believe the men could assist with their enquiries. Both are described as having dark coloured hair and of a 5’8” to 5’10” build.
Local inspector Neil Jones, said: “I would like to urge all van owners in the area to make sure that they are being particularly vigilant with their security following these thefts. Where possible, we would always advise that expensive power tools are removed from vans overnight and that any vehicle is locked and secured appropriately. If anything is left in a vehicle, then it should be left out of sight.
“It’s also a good idea to property mark your tools and equipment, so that if they are recovered they can be traced back to you.
“We have increased our patrols in this area following these thefts and ask if you know anything about these crimes or saw any suspicious behaviour in the area please call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
