In February of this year, the secretary of the tennis club reported to police they had been experiencing low levels of vandalism at the tennis courts on the Sportsground.
Easter has seen the vandals strike at the memorial bench commemorating a former member of the club.
"I can understand the youngsters wanting to use the basketball hoop on the far courts but what I cannot understand is why anyone would want to damage the memorial bench which we placed there" said secretary Hilary Trenear.
"Someone has carved lines onto one arm of the bench. This, along with chewing gum left on the courts, continual large amounts of litter/broken glass/general detritus, etc which has to be cleared up before anyone can actually play tennis, has led me to the conclusion that the basketball hoop would be better placed elsewhere. The court padlock has consistently been meddled with and has now disappeared. The padlock will be replaced soon."
