A busy route through rural Monmouthshire has been closed to the public while drivers are urged to avoid the area.
Usk Road is currently closed between the junction of Pantycross Inn and Old Monmouth Road, and emergency services are warning that diversions could cause congestion in the area.
“Please avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes for your journey,” a spokesperson for Gwent Police said.
The force has confirmed that the Air Ambulance was called to the scene of a collision between two vehicle.
“We received a report of a road traffic collision on Usk Road, Earslwood, Shirenewton, Monmouthshire, at around 2.55pm on Wednesday September 16,” the statement reads.
“Officers attended along with South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, and the Air Ambulance.”
“The collision involved two vehicles.”
“The road is closed in both directions while recovery work takes place.”
