A MAN killed after being hit by a car in Chepstow has been named as 72-year-old Gerald Christopher Russell from Monmouth.

The collision occurred at 5pm on Tuesday (27th October) on the A466 Wye Valley link road. It involved two vehicles and one pedestrian.

Mr Russell died at the scene.

A rapid response car and an air ambulance were dispatched to the incident and the road was closed for several hours.

An inquest into Mr Russell’s death was opened today (28th October) in Newport.

Gwent Police is appealing for anyone with information relating to the collision to call 101 quoting log 342 27/10/15.
