A MONMOUTH man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to dealing drugs in the town.

29-year-old Nathan Morris, of no fixed address but who lives in the Monmouth area, appeared at Newport Crown Court on Monday (14th November) charged with possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.

On 20th October Gwent Police officers became aware of a vehicle and its occupants travelling to Newport from Monmouth on an almost daily basis to purchase controlled class A drugs. These drugs were then supplied and sold to heroin users in the Monmouth area.

Officers located and stopped the vehicle on the A449 travelling back towards Monmouth.

A subsequent search of the vehicle and its occupants discovered class A drugs.

Appearing at Newport Crown Court, Judge Rowlands gave Morris a three year custodial sentence after he entered a guilty plea earlier that month.

Gwent Police DC Steven Benton said: “The sentence handed down to Morris by the courts shows that those found to supplying class A drugs within Gwent will be arrested and dealt with robustly by the criminal justice system.”
