A WYESHAM man has been given a 12 month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to theft from a garden centre.

Richard Paul Griffiths, of Wyesham Road, had previously pleaded not guilty to a charge of burglary from Millbrook Garden Centre on 8th December, but changed his plea to a guilty one at Newport Magistrates Court on 18th January. He appeared in court again on Tuesday (9th February) for a pre-sentence report hearing. A court official has since confirmed that Griffiths was later given a 12 month suspended sentence, and has been ordered to take part in a drug rehabilitation course.

Griffiths entered Milbrook Garden Centre as a trespasser between 13th and 16th September, taking a quantity of loose change, batteries and a hedge trimmer to the value of £250.
