SEVERAL fire crews were called to the scene of a large fire in the centre of Chepstow this afternoon.

Large flames leapt from the roof of a barbers shop in the Manor Way parade near to Chepstow Library.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Fire and Rescue said: “At approximately 1:06pm on Thursday the December 17 we received reports of a fire in Chepstow.

"Multiple crews and seven appliances are currently in attendance and the incident is currently on going."

Nearby businesses have been evacuated as a safety precaution.
