THE reason for a heavy police presence between Abergavenny and Crickhowell yesterday has been confirmed, after officers revealed the discovery of a dead man near a river bridge.

His body was found between Glangrwyney Bridge and Maes-y-Berllan farm yesterday morning and members of the public were told to avoid the area.

A police spokesperson said on Sunday: “Dyfed-Powys Police are in attendance in Glangrwyney Road, Crickhowell following the discovery of a body of a man at approximately 10.45am today,.

“Officers are working to establish the circumstances of the incident, as well as the identification of the man.

“There will be police presence in the area while conducting enquiries, and a road closure is in place between Glangrwyney Bridge and Maes-Y-Berllan farm. We would ask members of the public to please avoid the area while this is in place.”
