THE annual Chepstow Stampede proved to be a huge success with 600 runners taking up this year’s challenge.
Runners bombarded Chepstow Racecourse last Saturday (24th October) for the ultimate test of speed, strength and endurance.
The course was designed by military training instructors to challenge runners and
provide tough physical obstacles to get the chest pounding and sweat dripping.
Some racers opted for the 5k race and others braved the 10k distance. This year for the first time children aged five to 15 took plart in a one mile mini stampede where they were faced with obstacles and a vast amount of mud.
Chepstow Stampede is a charity event and this year’s two nominated charities were Prostate Cymru and ABF - The Soldiers Charity.
Coming in first place for the 10k race was Simon Gaskell with a time of 40 minutes 56 seconds. The winner of the 5k race was Lee Atkins with a time of 30 minutes and 26 seconds.
A spokesperson from Chepstow Racecourse said: “The number of runners has doubled this year from 2014 and we will look to grow the event again in 2016.
“It’s very competitive but great to see people crossing the line and then immediately head back out onto the course to cheer on their friends and families.”
