Monmouth Festival ended on Saturday with a flourish: a spectacular display of fireworks and a projection of photos from the last few decades to celebrate the festival's 30th anniversary.
Poco Latino from Monmouthshire opened the main stage entertainment, and 60s revivalists The New Amen Corner closed it, playing popular favourites that even the youngest in the crowd sang along to. Over at St Mary's Church Pontnewydd Male Voice Choir provided a rousing end to the nine-days of celebration.
This year's Festival was as always, well attended and strongly supported by locals and tourists, with good crowds throughout the week even when torrential rain was threatening from time to time.
The Carnival was a resounding success with the weather staying fine and double the amount of entries for the Carnival procession, compared with the previous year.
Les Modget, Festival Chair, pictured below with MC Paul Roberts, said: "We were really pleased with the turnout for this year's Festival, and there seemed to be a really good buzz created throughout the week. We had some fantastic feedback from both bands and audience members and already have had people enquiring wanting to perform or be in the Carnival next year. That kind of feedback makes it all worthwhile, particularly as we're all volunteers and do this purely for the love of the music and the desire for the Festival to continue. We really want to build on this for next year and we're already hatching plans."
