Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision on the A40, near to the Wilton Roundabout, in which a 16-year-old boy was killed. The collision happened on the northbound side of the carriageway at around 9.50pm on Monday, August 20th.  It involved a blue Mitsubishi Colt, a blue Keen Bad Boy CX moped and a white Citroen Saxo.  All three vehicles suffered damage - with the Mitsubishi and the moped heavily damaged. A blue Vauxhall Astra was also travelling along the same stretch of the A40 at the time but was not directly involved in the collision and was undamaged. The 16-year-old boy riding the moped suffered multiple injuries.  He died at the scene. There were no other injuries. The A40 was closed between Wilton and Whitchurch while emergency services attended and collision investigators conducted an examination of the scene and vehicles. The road was not fully reopened until around 7.15 am on Tuesday. The Herefordshire Coroner has been informed of the death but no further details of the deceased will be released until formal identification has taken place. Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw any of the vehicles as they travelled along the A40 towards Ross-on-Wye that evening. They are asked to contact PC Richard Pearce of the Hereford Roads Policing Team on 08457 444888. A 20-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.  They have been released on bail while enquiries continue.
