Monmouth RFC hosted their first ever Young Rugby Recruitment Open Day on Chippenham Fields, showcasing the club's coaching and volunteer resources.

More than 200 existing and new players, from ages four to 16, took part in fun rugby drills and activities, supported by the Newport Gwent Dragons coaching team, whose rugby obstacle course proved to be very popular.

The aim of the event was to promote the club and its resources to new players as well as potential new volunteers.

With around 30 qualified coaches and over 30 first-aid volunteers, all age-groups from U6 through to U16 already have a high level of coaching provision and support.

On top of the fun coaching sessions, the day itself saw the club hosting two touring clubs from Dorking and Aberdare with matches being played in the U13s to U16s age-groups.

A great day was had by all with plenty of new recruits ready to come on board in time for the new season.
