MONMOUTH Cricket Club's future stars were celebrated at a hugely successful presentation and awards evening last week.

More than 35 boys and girls from the thriving youth section enjoyed the club's maiden awards evening at Monmouth Rugby Club.

Trophies were handed out to the leading players in the various age-groups and all the children who came along were presented with a special achievement medal.

A framed photograph was given to left-arm spinner Ben Davies to mark his debut season for the Wales Under-11 team.

Coaches Jon Despontin, who organised Friday's event, Paul Swingwood, Liam Stubbs, Tracy Hodgson and Ian Morgan all reflected on an outstanding summer for the junior section.

The main award winners were: Best junior in senior side: Ella Smith; Best female player in junior section: Shannon Maguire; Under-15 Player of season: George Williamson; Under-13 Player of season: Josh Hughes; Under-13 Most improved: Archie Oubridge; Under-11 Player of season: Ben Davies; Under-11 Most improved: Ben Pilot; Under-9 Player of season: Adam Newell; Under-9 Most improved: Jake Teague.
