WYE and Usk Foundation (WUF) are soon hosting the Nick Brabner Autumn Riverwalk on Sunday 29th November, in what will be a great chance to see up close WUF’s river restoration work. Given the right conditions, there will also be a chance to see salmon and trout spawning or ascending falls and fish passes.
The salmon season has now just about finished, with the Wye’s total looking likely to be around 1,200. On the Wye, the season extended to the 25th October for the tributaries and the main river upstream of Llanwrthwl Bridge.
Coarse fishing has been tough in the past few weeks with anglers struggling to catch in the dry, bright conditions. Those trotting maggots for chub and dace seemed to have fared best but a forecasted change to warmer, wetter conditions might liven up the barbel fishing.
