The first Revolution Welsh Open martial arts tournament was held at Chepstow Leisure Centre on Sunday 8th June. Hosted by Matt Stait, the day saw some excellent fights with competitors coming from as far afield as Newcastle and Doncaster, including world, European and national champions. These events are very well established nationally and attracted more than 75 participants in kickboxing and sportsword. Modern Samurai Martial Arts Academy based in Bulwark entered a small team and after some very tough matches managed to win one gold, one silver and two bronze medals, which is a great result for the club and reflects the hard work the team put in. Charles Dance won a bronze in points and a gold in continuous kickboxing after repeatedly forcing his opponent out of the area. Kyle Verney took a silver in the men's continuous after some very tough matches and Lee Taylor took a bronze in the continuous after a very close hard fought match where both competitors gave their all as it was called a draw so had to fight an extra round.
