MONMOUTH Town’s first scheduled game of 2023 at home to county rivals Goytre was washed out by the weather last Saturday.

Just a handful of local teams saw action, with Chepstow’s Thornwell R&W missing an opportunity to go second in Gwent Premier Division Two as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by lowly Cwmcarn Athletic.

Sudbrook CC won a Harry Gill Cup cup cracker 4-3 at Monmouth’s Rockfield Rovers.  

And their 2nds saw off visitors Underwood 2nds 6-2 in East Gwent Division Two to close the gap on table-toppers Thornwell 2nds to one point.

But beside the Wye, Redbrook Rovers 2nds went down 5-0 at home to Mitcheldean 2nds in the FJ Pope Cup.
