It was victory in the team event for running club the Monross Trailblazers at the Mud Runner Oblivion 10k events held at Eastnor Castle on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July.

Luke James, Richard Bevan and Andy Stephens took first place in the team event in Saturday's (7th July) race coming 6th, 7th and 8th out of a field of more than 1,100.

On Sunday, Andy Stephens came third overall as an individual runner and Luke James placed sixth for the second day in a row.

The Monross Trailblazers were formed in 2011 with male and female members from both Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye.

The founder members met at circuit training classes run by Mike Bennett in Monmouth Leisure Centre, where they continue to train up to three times a week.

The Trailblazers attribute much of their success to Mike's training methods.

Club chairman Matthew Hall said: "Mike's training is brilliant. He has taken a bunch of guys and girls from their teens to their 60s and made them all-round fit.

"For complete fitness and endurance, circuit training has proved to be the most effective method any of us have found.

"The Monross Trailblazers have come from nowhere to competing with the best clubs in the area thanks to Mike's methods – and we've had loads of fun in the process."
