Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls (HMSG) Rowing Club rowed to victory at the Schools' Head held on the Tideway, River Thames, in the Junior 16 eights.
The rowers had been preparing for the four-mile race by competing in a number of other competitions since January.
But the girls at HMSG had not just been rowing to prepare for the event, they also had weekly early morning sessions with Jon Finn, HMSG's resident sports psychologist.
He provided support and developed the squad's self-belief, confidence, activation levels and positive thoughts to ensure the girls are in the right zone for racing.
The Welsh under 20s rugby conditioning coach spoke to the girls about the importance of diet in training and competition.
The girls committed to intensive, gruelling, winter training and took part in boot-camp sessions to aid their fitness and strengthen their legs; keeping a training diary to monitor their fitness and thoughts while training.
This enabled them to manage their day more efficiently and combine the demands of study and training.
The crew was selected from a strong, talented squad of 12 girls from both Year 10 and 11.
All-in-all, HMSG Rowing Club had a fantastic few days competing. Now it is time to consolidate on this success and improve ready for the training camp in Seville during the Easter Holidays.
