Chepstow Ladies secured back-to-back wins and climbed out of the relegation zone with a 6-3 victory over Risca.

Chepstow opened the game moving play with pace towards Risca's defence. Within minutes Chepstow's forwards allowed Hannah Williams to break through the line of defence and slip the ball past the keeper.

Risca replied with decisive movement down the right, working around Chepstow's midfield to be denied by defence.

Chepstow counterattacked, switching the ball to Hilary Baker on the right wing, who drove towards goal.

Baker crossed the ball for an attempt at goal put away by Anna Mayo. Confidence was high as Chepstow put away a further two goals in the first half with Risca also working a good goal past Chepstow.

With the score at 4-1 at half-time, there was everything to play for and both sides came back determined.

Play began moving end-to-end with Risca putting pressure on Chepstow's defence. Chepstow were battling to convert but Risca were stepping up their defensive strength denying Chepstow's attempts and pushing play towards goal.

Risca worked the ball into the D and managed to get another goal past Chepstow.

Chepstow earned a short-corner off a foul in the D. Hannah Moore took the ball for a strike at goal with the rebound converted by Williams to seal her hat-trick.

5-2 up and Chepstow seemed to take their foot off the pedal as Risca broke through Chepstow's defence to put away their last goal of the game.

With two minutes left on the clock Chepstow took possession and moved the ball around gaining ground. Williams broke through to take on the final defender, drawing the keeper out of the goal and slipped it back to Mayo, who put the final goal of the game away, also her hattrick.

A well-deserved, crucial 6-3 win for Chepstow Ladies and a brilliant game for both sides. Chepstow are now out of the relegation zone with everything to play for half-way through the season. They take on Swansea City III away on Saturday (2nd March).
