Usk Juniors FC (under 9s) Finished off the season in style by winning the Annual Dinsdale Cup. The match was played in Usk against Garden City from Chepstow. Newport County FC chairman Les Scadding was the invited VIP and he brought along a couple of his players, Ismail Yakubu and Max Porter. Their job was to both encourage the young players and to keep a sharp eye for future talent. The first quarter was evenly matched and after about 10 minutes Usk took the lead through William Hickmott and this score remained until the break. The second quarter saw Usk again applying the pressure on Garden City and they extended their lead when Daniel Cordell scored from a difficult angle. Garden City tried hard to get back into the game and had a couple of chances but Usk keeper Rhodri Williams was in fine form. The third quarter was again evenly contested but it was Usk who pushed up the pitch and earned a corner. Daniel Cordell took the corner and put the ball towards the goal. Unfortunately it struck the heel of a Garden City defender and deflected into the net for an own goal. In the final quarter, the Usk keeper kicked the ball upfield and Daniel Cordell found himself one-on-one with the opposing keeper.
