Sunday afternoon saw Undy Athletic Club's Under 18 side secure their position as double winners this season.

Firming up their league win with a 5-2 win against Cwmbran Celtic a fortnight ago, the boys played Fleur-de-lys Football Club at Tredegar on Sunday and again won emphatically, running out 5-1 winners. The nucleus of the team have been playing together for four years with boys coming and going to compliment their tactics.

Over the time they've been together, the team has taken home four trophies split between the league and cup fixtures that they are registered to.

Additional to their fixtures, the boys have managed to fundraise to take themselves on tour every year that they have been together, developing their football skills while playing against teams in West Wales, Sussex, Blackpool and Barcelona.

Together, the commitment and enthusiasm has resulted in ambitious achievements that other teams would be envious of.

The cup final started with a confident two goals within five minutes of kick-off by Ryan Matthews and a penalty from Ewan Anderson.

Jack Lloyd placed the ball in the back of the net and was responsible for an own goal in Undy's favour to take the score to 4-1 at half-time.

The fifth goal came from Alex Jarman and Undy could begin to celebrate their success.

Christian McConnell, who has played for the team since it began, said: "I'm proud to be part of this team. I couldn't think of a better way to finish my time in youth football by taking home a medal for the league and cup with my mates."

Ewan Anderson, captain of the team, said: "There's no words to describe how proud I am of the team and players to finish not only the season, but the time in the youth section of Undy, by taking the double home to the club.

"On behalf of the boys, I want to thank all of the supporters, coaches and management team, without them none of our achievements would have been possible."

Towards the end of their time within the junior section of the club, all players will progress to develop the senior section of the club.

Manager Greg Anderson said: "In summary, the past four years have been an absolute pleasure to see the boys coming together and developing.

"I wish them all the best as they venture off into senior football."
