SEVERN Tunnel boss Steve Duddridge claimed his title-chasing side have been left with a "mammoth task" after they drew 1-1 with Mathern A, Tunnel's Daryl Berry equalising Kenny Vidler's first-half header.
"It was disappointing," he said. "We probably have to win every remaining match to have a chance of winning the league and that is a mammoth task.
"I thought we were the better side throughout and just didn't get that bit of luck in front of goal.
"The difference was Mathern's effort which hit the post and went in. Ours hit a post and went out.
"In the first half, we were unlucky not to be two or three up and we dominated possession in the second half without creating a clear-cut chance.
"It's a game we couldn't afford to lose but a point is no good to either us or them in the title race.
"We drew one and lost two last season and didn't win the league, and already this season we have drawn one and lost two in a tougher division so the title has probably gone for us already."
Duddridge will have a better idea after this Saturday when he takes Severn Tunnel to Underwood who will be without their inspirational defender and skipper Jamie Green.
He suffered an injury playing for the East Gwent League Select team last week and is likely to be out of action until the New Year.
"Underwood are definitely not the same without Jamie," Duddridge said.
"He organises them massively and is a huge presence for them.
"They will miss him – the thing they have going for them though is they have the ability to out-score anybody.
"I'm certain we can go there next week and score a couple but I also know that Underwood will score a few too."
Mathern boss Lee Baker said he saw the draw differently.
"I thought we should have had three points as we were on top for most of the game but missed three or four golden chances that came back to haunt us. Signs are good because we created plenty of chances, and defended well in bad conditions.
"It may feel like two points dropped but I see it as three points not given away to a close rival. The pressure is on them and we are still going strong."
