THE juniors at Penallt had a hot morning for their tournament recently.

They were divided into two groups. Competing in the younger group were Lana Price, Rosie Bryden, Fran Lucas and Emma Nichols.

They scored points for a number of different tennis related activities as well as forehand and backhand shots.

When it came to adding up the scores Fran and Rosie had exactly the same number of points so a playoff was needed.

Fran managed to win it by just one point.

Coco Payne, Zach Mason, William Adams, Rufus Payne and Lenny Kilner were playing in the older age group.

They had a singles round robin tournament so that everybody played everyone else in the group.

Despite the heat there were many long rallies. There was also some thoughtful ball placement and very few double faults.

William was the winner and there was another tie this time for second place with Rufus and Lenny both on the same number of points.

They decided to share the runners up prize and not have a play off.
