TWENTY three members of Chepstow Harriers turned out to race the very hilly and exceptionally scenic 10 mile road race in the Elan Valley on Saturday 22nd November.

The weather was glorious and the countryside stunning with the vivid autumnal colours. The club laid on a coach for their members so Harriers could make a relaxed day out of it.

Prize winners were Neil Grant for coming first in his Male Veteran 60 age category, Niki Morgan for third placed female, and Jan Morris for coming first in the Female Veteran 45 category.

The race also incorporated the East Wales championships and there were many medals won by Harriers.

James Blore, Neil Grant and Niki Morgan took gold, Lisa Jeffrey Jan Morris, Paul Murrin, Laurie Carter and Gareth Jones took silver, and Berna Cantwell, Matthew Lawson and Dave Andrews took bronze.

Those taking part, in finishing order were Paul Murrin, James Blore, Matthew Lawson, Jonathan Carter, Laurie Carter, Niki Morgan, Rob Hook, Neil Grant, Kevin McEntee, Jan Morris, Berna Cantwell, Gareth Jones, Lisa Jeffrey, Stuart Duncan, Ian Wade, Karen Elvers, Dave Andrews, Andy Bray, Jane Bayliss, Virginia Stone, Geoff Bayliss, Ann Jenner and Gill Ellis.

The final race in the club championship is the Skirrid face race, which takes place on Saturday 20th December. The race is being organised by Chepstow Harrier's Andy Creber.

There is an exciting battle for first place in this year's club championship between Paul Murrin and James Blore, and the final race will decide who takes the top trophy.
