MONROSS Trailblazers had a great start to the Herefordshire Summer Cross Country league, which started last Wednesday evening (3rd June), gaining 3rd and 16th team place finishes.

The Bulmer's orchard at Kinnersley provided the venue, with the race hosted by Croft Ambrey running club.

The summer series races are typically shorter runs, this race being 5.4 miles in length, and the race format different, where the first three males and first female placed count.

Andrew Stephens continued his fine form from the winter league, finishing third in 32 minutes 40 seconds.

Barry Davies followed in 21st with 36.38, Phil Thomas 25th in 37.18 and Laura Lelievre a fantastic third female place in her first race for Monross in 40.41.

Gavin Jones finished 31st with 37.38, David Knapper 53rd in 40.07, James Fletcher 72nd in 41.32, Gerry Meridith 74th in 41.37 and Vanessa Ball 22nd female in 45.20.

In other races, Andrew Stephens finished third in the Darrens Dash at Longtown on Saturday and Laura Lelievre first at the Whitebrook Windup 10k on Sunday, completing a great week for the Monross team.
