The Spirit of Monmouth Running Club have been taking part in the Gwent Leisure Centre League (GLCL) for the first time this year.

Club chairman Sian Stroud has been thrilled with the amount of members that have got involved with promoting the club across the county and moving Spirit of Monmouth forward in the right direction, with many more members competing on a regular basis in races.

Spirit of Monmouth are the ninth club to join the GLCL, which has been established for a number of years.

The Summer League is a series of road races across South East Wales organised by local running clubs with the last race being on Tuesday 7th August at Cwmbran Stadium, organised by Fairwater Runners.

Mens captain Ben Wills and Ladies captain Emma King are both pleased with their teams' performance in the league, especially as the club missed the first race and have not had consistency with their teams.

They are looking forward to the Winter League Cross Country Races and are confident that their teams will continue to shine throughout the year.

The Spirit of Monmouth Running Club is an all inclusive running Club, they are affiliated to Welsh Athletics and cater for all levels of running ability.

If you are interested in becoming a member come along to Monmouth School Sports Centre on a Tuesday at 7.20pm and join a run.
