T-SHIRTS for the Devauden 10k run have been designed especially for the race, with local artist Pat Kenneally creating the image.

Pat, who is currently studying in Bristol to be an architect, has created a logo in a Celtic style taking inspiration from the branches and roots of the trees which line the cross country route around Chepstow Park Woods, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Any runner who completes the challenging 10k course in under an hour will earn the "Sub Sixty Club" T-shirt for their hard work.

All children, aged 7 to 14, completing the other age category 3k, 2k or 1k cross country races will receive a Devauden Races medal, which is of a similar design.

Each category winner, including the six year olds and under, who run a 60m dash, will be presented with a distinctive wooden trophy which maintains the tree theme.

They are produced by the design and technology department at Chepstow School from wood donated by ex-Chepstow pupil and managing director of Monmouth Timber Supplies, Chris Worthy.

A male or female runner who sets a new course record for the 10k will also win £100. The male record is 36.05 set by Fairwater runner Mark Jennings, while the female record of 39.54 is held by Chepstow Harrier Katherine Matthew.

Money raised by the races will be shared equally between SARA, Severn Area Rescue Association, which provides emergency and first aid cover throughout the events, and Devauden's Hood Memorial Hall. Both are registered charities.
